14th November 2009

Robert Pattinson has been huge since the release of Twilight, and it's almost hard to believe he was in any other movies apart from that. How to Be (2008) is one of the strange little indies that are supposed to be great but just lack charm. Instead of sporting the little 'up-do' that made girls swoon when he was that horrible Edward Cullen, Robert has chosen to smear his hair all down his face, and to be honest, he looks like a drowned rat through the most-part of it. In fact, I couldn't believe it was him. I don't mean that in a good way. Robert can't act. He can't handle tough material, that's probably why he chose Twilight, because Edward Cullen is so static that he doesn't need to act. The film is about Art (Pattinson)who feels his life is going no where, and he has turned out to be a failure to his parents. He calls on the help of Dr. Ellington (Powell Jones), who invades his home and his family, and Art feels like he is starting to be a better person, even if the people around him don't think so. The story probably felt like a good idea at the time, but unfortunately it starts with a sparkler, which quickly fizzles out and is never lit up again. I have honestly lost the little faith I'd had in Robert Pattinson, and even when I see The Twilight Saga: New Moon, I instantly know I will not like it, because Pattinson can't act enough for my liking. And I have pretty low expectations.
5/10
