31st October 2009
I got my ticket for This Is It (2009) on the 2nd October, almost a month before I could get to see it. I was so excited, I even counted down the days until I could witness the magic. So the night came, 8.30pm to be exact, and I finally got to watch the movie which would change my life. Sounds cheesy, I know, but it is true. I love Michael Jackson, and, like the rest of the world, was very shocked at the news that he had passed. Now, the film starts with the song 'Wanna be Startin Something', one of his earlier very upbeat song, which warms you up to two hours of nothing but the best pop songs ever produced. Most of the songs have been done up for the stage, one of the most amazing was 'They Don't Really Care About Us', when eleven dancers were multiplied into thousands thanks to green screen. 'Smooth Criminal' was another one I liked too, because it starts with Rita Hayworth singing 'Put the Blame on Mame' in the movie 'Gilda' and Michael Jackson is CG-ed in to the screen, being chased by Edward G. Robinson and being gunned by Humphrey Bogart. That was really amazing, and it looked so real. 'Thriller', though scary enough, was made even more scarier with zombies coming at the screen as you watch. However, one of my favourites though was 'Earth Song'. The clip was so sad, and the song really makes you think about how the Earth is dying and we're doing nothing about it. The movie ends with 'Man in the Mirror', like my favourite song of all time, and it is sung so beautifully that it made me cry. My best friend laughed at me. Michael was so good at dancing and singing (though he was saving his voice many times), and never lost his temper. He was even a bit of a comedian too. Michael will be sorely missed, but love him or hate him, everyone should be REQUIRED to see this film, because you may go in not being a fan but you'll certainly come out being a huge fan of the King of Pop.
