End of Days (kinda, maybe, sorta)
I knew this post would be inevitable, but I haven't ever really wanted to write it. I'm not sure how to really ease into the news, but here it is: I'll be stopping writing for this blog just after the Oscars. The reason? As many of you may be aware, I'm currently Head Girl at our school and if the past couple of weeks have been any indication, I'm going to be very busy. Basically, the only way I'd be able to blog is if I stopped watching movies or stopped eating dinner. Neither of those are things I'm particularly keen to do. Another reason is that I haven't enjoyed blogging at all lately. There's a lot of reasons for this, but the fact that I can see a movie like Silver Linings Playbook, totally adore it and then get down to write it and have absolutely nothing is a bit sad.
Now, I can honestly say that there's no project on the side or any big website that I'll surprise you with later. However, I don't want to be completely written off just yet. There may be a time where I have some time up my sleeve and a bit of inspiration. In which case I might turn up again on your Google Reader. At this point, it seems a little unlikely that this will happen but I imagine there will be a time when it will. Basically, this is the end of the blog being a regular thing where the sidebar is always updated and features are still run. You've probably noticed how desolate the blog has become lately - and I can tell you, I'm heading for No-Man's Land here.
Alas, I'll stick around to sometime get a Silver Linings Playbook review and to do my annual Oscar predictions with poetry. Hopefully you haven't already deserted me!

ReplyDeleteJust make sure you stick around on Twitter at least, we don't want to lose you completely. Come back when you have time and inclination.
Of course I will stick around Twitter. I'm not gonna lose touch with anyone!
DeleteOh no, this is sad news. You have to at least stick around on Twitter and update us with what you're watching. 140 characters is a lot easier and quicker than a blog post.
ReplyDeleteYes, 140 characters is a lot easier. I'll be sticking around on Twitter!
DeleteWow forget that head girl stuff, you're one of the best bloggers out there!
ReplyDeleteHaha no, getting Head Girl was such a shock and a surprise that I'm still not entirely sure of how I got there, but I've gotta do my school proud. Hopefully I'll be one of the best head girls out there too!
DeleteNooooooooooooooooooo :( :(
ReplyDeleteI understand obviously but I do hope the inspiration bug bites a few times a month. Blogosphere without Cinematic Paradox seems like a desolate place. You better be good with them Head Girl duties, missy :P :(
I will try every now and again, but we can probably still fangirl on Tumblr and stuff! Haha. I will be good with my Head Girl duties. And I will be seeing you in India one day!
Delete*hugs hugs hugs* I completely understand the pressures your under, and like I said before, just make sure you take a bit of time to relax and breathe every now and then! Do your best! At least we'll all keep chatting on twitter and Facebook. If it's not enjoyable anymore, then it makes sense to only blog when the inspiration takes you :)
ReplyDeleteHead Girl has a kind of magical, Hogwarts-y sound to it.
Yes, I must relax every now and again! Tomorrow is a relaxation day, I'm very excited.
DeleteHead Girl is a little bit magical, I must admit. Very hard work, though.
Don't worry, man, I know exactly how you feel. Life in the outside world takes precedence over whats happening on the internet, and the work you're putting out there. It is tough, especially with so little time generally, that it is best to use it wisely doing what you love and need to do - and I think that is definitely what you are doing at the moment!
ReplyDeleteIf you don't return back to the blogging world, I'd totally understand. Drop me an email or add me on crackbook (fb) sometime, though! I'll miss you around these parts!
While I've loved writing about movies, this kind of opportunity at school is something that only comes around once in a lifetime and it has definitely put a lot of things in perspective - basically, I've always wanted to inspire people and this is a great way of doing it. So yes, all of my energy is going to that!
DeleteI will add ya on Facebook. What name do I search up?
Sounds like you're going on the right track, man. It's always the best thing to sacrifice things you like, or think you need to do, for things that will get you to the place you need to be; the stuff you love doing.
DeleteAnd search the name Bruce Bogtrotter, who lives in Ass Bridge in Ireland (facts that, you know, are obviously true).
But I wish you the best of luck for you this year, it is truly deserved!
Take some time, focus on other things for a while....
ReplyDeleteAnd then get back here and write!!! Always good for a break, and it sounds like you need to get away and get your head elsewhere for a bit.... When you come back (and you will, eventually) you'll feel better for the break.
Good luck Stevee!!
Yes, I do need a break from this, but my energy sure won't be wasted!
DeleteThanks!
Sad news.. even sadder is the fact that it's my birthday and I will now forever remember the day you were no longer a regular blogger.....
ReplyDeleteBut good luck and hopefully you'll appear in the movie world in the future unexpectedly!?
Happy belated birthday - but your birthday wasn't *the* day. I'm sticking around until just after the Oscars, so you'll just have bad memories of the end of Feburary!
DeleteHopefully. Hopefully I'll be the next Kathryn Bigelow.
I'm sorry you're stopping, and I hope you'll return to blogging someday - we'll be here waiting for you! Good luck with the Head Girl thing, it's great. And just keep watching movies!
ReplyDeleteHopefully I will some day, but I will love having some extra time to watch movies!
DeleteWe will miss reading, but I hope you'll stay on twitter - you're awesome. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteI definitely will. I'll also miss Reel Insight's podcast :(
DeleteI simply couldn't leave your site before suggesting that I really enjoyed the standard information a person supply in your visitors? Is gonna be again often in order to check out new posts
ReplyDeleteMy blog post :: ikea furniture assembly service
Stevee, this is sad news, but it's totally understandable given all your other activities. I'll echo the other comments and hope that you still show up here and there when you have the time. Good luck with everything!
ReplyDeleteSad! I understand though, you've got A LOT going on for you. I hope you stick around on Twitter at least. And if you start blogging again, I'll be here to read. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll be on Twitter, for sure! Thanks!
DeleteI completely understand where you're coming from, my workload is literally like WOAH, but still, this is sad news. I really enjoy reading your blog and it will be a change on my daily routine :)
ReplyDeleteHopefully we can still email each other and stuff, but good luck anyway.
Well, look at it this way, you'll have more time in your day to do your work! Haha.
DeleteTotal bummer! But I understand. I hope to still see you around the internets and stuff elsewhere!
ReplyDeleteYou will, and I look forward to hearing all about Korea!
DeleteIf things aren't fun. Don't do it. Believe me, I know. During that horrible year of 2010 when I went into a severe year of depression. I stopped writing for a while. I just couldn't do it. It wasn't fun at all. It would take me a long time to finally get back in the swing of things and 2011 for me was my comeback year.
ReplyDeleteExactly. Last year I was going through a bit of messiness and that's why I took so many breaks. Since then, I've never truly got my writing mojo back, but I have focused my energies elsewhere. I do look forward to seeing your blog continuing to grow!
DeleteBest of luck with school. Hope to see you around these parts from time to time. I'll keep an eye out for future posts. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Hopefully ya will.
DeleteDear Steeve, as your internet "mum" I can only nod in support of whatever you decide, even if it would mean that we'll be deprived of your writings for a while - or even longer. You're just in the beginning of your career and I'm sure you'll find other outlets for your creativity that will lead you closer to your goal of becoming the next generation's Kathryn Bigelow...
ReplyDeleteJust don't be a stranger. You know where to find me if you need a chat over a cup of coffee, a shoulder to cry on or a friendly nod.
*hugs*
Jessica
Thank you for being such a great internet mum, Jessica. I'll definitely be keeping in touch - I'm sure I'll be needing a friendly nod every now and again. And yes, being the next Kathryn Bigelow is my goal, so I must focus on that. This is just the first of many steps!
DeleteBummer!! I will miss you Stevee, but hey I totally understand there are more important things in life! That's awesome that you're the Head Girl in school, congrats and best of luck in all your school activities. Hope you still find time to blog from time to time, even if it's just once in a blue moon :D Take care girl!
ReplyDeleteThanks - I'll be sticking around at FlixChatter, that's for sure!
DeleteI wish you so much luck for the future, Stevee. It's sad that you're leaving - for now. Hope you'll be back some time.
ReplyDeleteWe won't forget you *sniff*.
Sad news that you are taking a break, but I completely understand why. I haven't been blogging lately myself very much because of work and other things, though I'm putting together a wee side project I hope to unveil eventually. You have been a fantastic blogger Stevee and when you decide to return, if you ever do, we'll all be welcoming you back with open arms. And heck, even if you don't return, we'll still all give ya a virtual hug because you're a terrific film lover and wonderful person.
